Eric Angstadt: Organization level was improved

In his exclusive interview, Eric Angstadt, the Winter Sports Manager of the International Paralympic Committee, appreciated the IPC Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing World Championships organization level.

How did the participants find the Opening Ceremony?

- Yesterday we were pleasantly surprised. As the IPC representative I can say that it was the most amazing, colorful and spectacular Opening Ceremony I have ever seen. We’re thankful to everyone who took part in such a wonderful celebration! I think that the organization level was improved and the future organizers will have to try their best to surpass it.

What do participants think of the organization level?

- I haven’t heard if the athletes had any problems during the flight, everything was good. Neither have I heard any complaints about the accommodation, logistics or anything else. Everyone likes the atmosphere I’m satisfied with it.

Russia boasts the number of International Competitions lately…

- Yes, after we got the information about the IOC decision to organize the Winter Olympic and Paralympic games 2014 in Sochi, we understood that the countries of Eastern Europe and Asia were not involved enough in the Olympic Games organization. I’m glad that the situation is improving now. Sochi is also making its contribution in the Olympiad organizing. I believe we can be sure that the Olympiad 2014 will be held at top level.

What would you like to wish the athletes before the Championships?

- Almost every athlete have been participating in the competitions during the whole season. Our athletes have a very high preparatory level; and they have to work hard to show good results and fight for the Championships medals. I’m sure that everyone is expecting for uncompromising competition, as usual though. As an example of the participants high level I would like to remind you of the Shilov and Zaripov’s photo-finish in Vancouver. I wish the athletes good luck and bright impressions of the Championships which they will remember for a long time!
