Hilde Gjelsvik: Happy birthday, Anne!

On her birthday, April 3, Anne Ragnhild Kroken, the Norway national team capitan, told about her work and everyday life.

- Anne, tell about your everyday life, your family and your friends. How do you spend your spare time?

- I’m working in the Norwegian Ski Federation and it takes a lot of time. I work even on weekends when we have competitions or trainings. I really like it, especially when we get the opportunity to go to mountains, because the mountain skiing is my primary hobby. Nevertheless, I always try to find time for my family: I have a mother and three siblings.

- What duties do you have as a team leader?

- I have been involved in handicapped sports in 1992. Now I’m a coach and also a classifier of the Norwegian Paralympic team.

- How much time do you spend with the athletes? How do they spend their spare time?

- I spend a lot of time with them, when we go together to the competitions and trainings. However, skiing is only a part of their life; they also have many friends to spend spare time with. It’s good to have a life outsides sports, and I’m sure our athletes haven’t got any problems with that.

Hilde Gjelsvik, the Norwegian Paralympic national team member, noticed that Anne Kroken did an amazing job for Norwegian sports. «She knows the sport really well; she can just see a skier and tell what level this person has. We can always rely on her; she makes everything really easy for us. For instance, if I’m missing my bib or if I don’t know my start time, I can always ask her. Anne has a total control over everything! We couldn’t be here without our leader, she is really important for us. She told us that, what she wanted is three medals for her birthday, so we are going to try to do our best to give her that!», – said the athlete.
