Andrea Eskau: If snow doesn’t melt I will try to win some more medals of the Championships

A new competition day of the Championships brought the victory to the new heroes. The owners of the gold medals Trygve Steinar Larsen, Andrea Eskau и Kirill Mikhaylov answered the journalists’ questions.

Andrea: I’m very lucky in sprint and today’s race was not an exception. I’m very happy that gold is mine.

Trygve: In the beginning of the race my main rivals were the Russian athletes. I didn’t want to miss a chance to win, so I tried my best and finally got the medal.

Kirill: Sprint is the most energetic race. I got exhausted in a short period of time, but anyway I managed to cross the finish line first.

The biggest part of the Championships left behind and now we can do some preliminary conclusions. Are you satisfied with your results in Khanty-Mansiysk?

Andrea: Now I’m satisfied with my results. I will try to enlarge our team collection with a couple of medals on condition that the snow doesn’t melt for the weekends (laughing).

Trygve Steinar: Today’s sprint is my favourite art and I’m very proud to be the first in it. Tomorrow I’ll try to show a good result in the relay.

Kirill: I already have the medals of every value: three of them are gold and I will try to get more. I will fight tomorrow, but I’m satisfied with my results for now.

Do you have your omens or talismans, which help you to get ready for the races?

Trygve: Nothing special. I treat every race as a celebration and probably this helps me to show good results.

Andrea: Before the races I kiss a small toy I brought from. However, today I was thinking about my mother, who’s unfortunately ill now. I’m sure, that thoughts about her brought me luck.

Kirill: Before the starts I mentally ask my family, children for help and I’m sure that it gives me strength.

Did you expect that the trip to Siberia, which is stereotypically cold, will be accompanied with the warm weather?

Andrea: Before I went to Khanty-Mansiysk I regularly watched the weather forecasts and I was getting ready for the cold weather. Otherwise, when I arrived here I understood that I shouldn’t always trust weather forecasters. Anyway I’m not upset the Siberian weather presents us with the warm days.

Kirill: This is the first time when I’m in Khanty-Mansiysk and I should say that I was getting ready for a colder weather. Everything turned out to be better than I expected.

What way you’ll be met at home? Are you already making plans for the first day in the motherlands?

Andrea: When I’m back in Germany I will go to the city where my relatives live and we’ll make a big party. It was planned even before I won the medal.

Trygve: This is my first Championships and I’m excited about the meeting with the family. I think that I’ll be surprised with their reaction. Our government usually supports such victories, that’s why I expect to be rewarded.

Kirill: I think that I’ll be met in a very good way, because I’ll bring the gold medal. I will celebrate it with my family and friends.
