Tora Berger: Violent struggle took place in my head first of all

The Winners of the World Cup’s mass start Darya Domracheva (Belarus), Tora Berger (Norway) and Kaisa Mäkäräinen (Finland) summed up the season 2011/2012 during the press conference.

– Darya, you have shown excellent results in the World Cup’s final stage. You won three medals, the globe of mass start, pursuit, and you are second in the total score. Do you think that you will replace Magdalena Neuner in the biathlon world?

Daria: Maybe. This was a good season for me. Last year I got a globe and this year – two. I am very pleased with these results and I am glad that the season is over.

-Was it hard to compete with Tora Berger in today’s mass start?

Daria: Yes. We always compete with Tora on the last laps in recent times. It was my first win today. I know that today is Tora’s birthday. I hope she will forgive me for not making her the desired gift.

-What are your plans for the nearest future?

Daria: Tomorrow we will fly to Munich for the run training and rest. Then I am planning to go to Tyumen and Moscow races. I am very tired and I feel that I just need some rest. In May I am planning to go to Cyprus.

– Tora, today you were struggling like never before. Can you think of such a competition?

Tora: Yes. That was last week. The last race I had to struggle a lot, especially with myself, because I was very tired. Violent struggle took place in my head first of all.

– Could you keep the lead after shooting?

Tora: I think not. Darya was very strong today. On the last lap I had a chance to get ahead, but it did not work.

– Kaisa, are you satisfied with today’s race?

Kaisa: Absolutely. I am very happy that I could get on the podium today. The beginning of the race was not the best, I missed twice. I felt more confident during the standing shooting, so I decided to fight till the end.

-Today we have a very interesting podium. Perhaps the three most powerful women of the next season, what do you think?

Kaisa: Yes, I think that the girls will be really strong, so I try to focus on shooting during my trainings.
