E.ON IBU World Cup Biathlon

Exposition consists of 32 icons from the collection of Yaroslavl Art Museum, dedicated to St. Nicolas the Miracle-Worker. St. Nicolas, archbishop who lived in IV century is known as the most honorable Christian sain, famous for his miracle working while living and after death. The memory of St. Nicolas the Miracle-Worker is revered in all Christian world.  The icons on the exhibition represent different aspects of honoring St. Nicolas the Miracle-Worker in orthodox culture and show all the wealth of saint’s iconography. Icons were made in the middle of XVI – the end of XIX century. The majority of icons come from Yaroslavl – a big art centre of the Middle Age and the New Age. Some of them are considered to be the best of Yaroslavl’s art. Don’t miss the icons that are connected with Romanovo-Borisoglebsk  which is known to be one of the most famous places of iconography in XIX century. Icons that also deserve your attention are coming from rural district of Yaroslavl and represent honoring of St. Nicolas the Miracle-Worker among the people.
