Magdalena Neuner: “The race has become a real joy for me”

During the press conference of the first racing day the winners Magdalena Neuner, Vita Semerenko and Darya Domracheva shared their impressions of the sprint race.

-Magdalena, your victory today was really impressive. How do you estimate your performance?

Magdalena Neuner: I felt very relaxed, run fast, felt my strength and that’s why the race has become out a real joy for me.

– In two days your biathlon career will come to its end, would you like to change your mind?

Magdalena Neuner: I will miss a lot of things and also my teammates and my rivals. But I think I made the right decision. I dreamed about leaving biathlon being on the top of my career and now that’s that very moment. I’m happy that I participated in the world biathlon life, but I want to achieve something in different spheres as well.

– Vita, were you getting the information about your chances to win while running?

Vita Semerenko: On the last lap I was informed that Magdalena had the advantage of 16 seconds. It was very difficult for me and I’m happy that I’m one of three leaders. Recently my nephew was born and I promised myself that I’ll grab the medal for him.

– Does it make you sad, that the season is almost over and you’re on the top of your form?

Vita Semerenko: I’m glad that I’m finishing the season so bright, because I expected to rich the top of my form in March.

– Darya, your skis were looking not as good as the skis of your rivals. How can you comment on that?

Darya Domracheva: This day was very difficult for all my team. Snow made us feel incomfortable, but I can say that I felt pretty much ok. Everything happens, you can’t always have the best skis.
